Background of the Study
E-procurement systems are digital platforms designed to streamline procurement processes, enhance transparency, and improve financial management. In Nigeria, e-procurement has been introduced as part of broader public sector reforms to address inefficiencies and corruption in government procurement. Kaduna State is among the pioneers of e-procurement implementation, leveraging technology to improve procurement practices and financial accountability (Abubakar & Bello, 2023).
The integration of e-procurement systems with financial management processes has the potential to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulations. However, challenges such as technical limitations, inadequate training, and resistance to change hinder the full realization of these benefits. This study evaluates the impact of e-procurement systems on financial management in Kaduna State, identifying successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the adoption of e-procurement systems in Kaduna State, issues such as limited user adoption, technical challenges, and gaps in system integration persist. These issues undermine the system’s potential to enhance financial management, resulting in inefficiencies, delays, and lack of transparency in procurement processes (Garba et al., 2024).
The effectiveness of e-procurement systems in improving financial management remains underexplored, particularly in Kaduna State. This study addresses this gap by evaluating the impact of e-procurement systems on financial management practices and proposing solutions to enhance their implementation.
